Wolf Mountain Apps

Wolf Mountain Apps has published an Android application that provides selectable Google Maps markers for the Portland area’s craft breweries. Each marker on the map denotes the location of a brewery — selecting a marker displays more details about that brewery such as a hyperlinked website address, selectable phone number, and address. All this information can be sent to friends through an integrated share feature. Additionally, there is an integrated “find” function which allows for quick zoom and selection of a particular brewery. The user’s current location is provided as an overlay on the map, and it is also possible to use satellite view to help better visualize a particular location.  The most recent feature addition is the ability to launch the Google Maps application for turn-by-turn directions, Street View, user reviews, etc.

Portland is recognized as a national “brewtopia”. In 2009 Portland tied with Asheville, NC as winner of an informal vote for “Beer City, USA” in an Examiner.com poll by Charlie Papazian, one of the most recognized names in the realm of beer and brewing.

The Portland area is home to several craft breweries, each serving and distributing multiple beer styles. These beers are available in-house and in local restaurants, with some distributed further afield regionally and nationally. Enjoy your time sampling some of the Portland area’s local brews!

The Portland Breweries application is free and can be found in the Android Market on most Android devices, such as Verizon’s Motorola Droid, Google’s Nexus One, T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G, Sprint’s HTC Hero, AT&T’s Dell Aero, and many, many more!
